Sensei Siegfried Mac-Intosh´s historical background

Sensei Siegried Mac-Intosh moved from Holland and came to Sweden as a musician in 1962. He stayed in Malmö for two weeks and had a gig in Norway and stayed there for a month. Then he left for Engelholm and Västerås to finally head his way to the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. In 1963 Sensei settled down in Södermalm, Stockholm, but continued doing his gigs on his round trip through Sweden.

In 1968 Sensei took a walk in the Regeringsgata when he suddenly noticed some interesting karate posters. He went inside to visit the club. When he came back for the second time to admit himself, the club trainer had committed suicide with harakiri, may him rest in peace. Sensei continued doing his gigs. At one occasion in the Holländargata he saw some guys training in white clothes, which made him once again interested in karate.

In 1970 Sensei took his taxi-licence and lived in the Åsögatan, Södermalm. Every day when he took a walk on that street he heard the word "Kiai" coming through the windows of Stockholms Kyokushin karate kai, at that time it was called Swings.

Sensei didn´t dare to go upstairs to watch. He was ashamed of how he looked – his belly was exactly alike Idi Amin! He promised himself to look healthy and fit before admitting himself to the club.

One year later in the age of 43, Sensei went to the club to admit himself. There he got the chance to meet Mr Roger Olofsson and Mr Johnny Grimstål for the first time. Sensei jumped up when he saw Mr Rogers black eye!

In 1973 Sensei finally started training with the boys in Stockholm Kyokushin Kai. A change of style was about to enter in Kyokushin, which Sensei didn´t have a clue about. He realized that when he met Brian Fitkin for the first time who also became the trainer of the club

It took a year, when in 1974 Brian Fitkin asked Sensei to try to compete in RM which took place in Solna. Sensei went straight to the final in that competition and took a second place. "Now I am trapped ", Sensei thought. He realized his passion for the Kyokushin karate and in 1975 he joined Stockholm Kyokushin karate team.

Senseis` first team competition was kumite SM in Malmö. During this competition 80 % of the contesters were hospitalized. The word "slaughterhouse" was born! During this time Sensei won most RM gold medals for his team. In 1984 Sensei joined the final in RM individual group where he won a silver medal, and that after competing for 10 years.

Sensei left Södermalm and moved to Brandbergen where he started Brandbergen Karate Kai in 1986. Sensei was the first student from the Stockholm Kyokushin Karate who starts and runs his own club.

Brandbergen Karate Kai has always had its high standards and won lots of medals and prices in both national and international competitions.

Today, 21 years later, Sensei keeps the same standards on his students with himself as head trainer. Brandbergen Karate Kai has students who joined the team of Sweden but also became admitted in high school of Budo.

Now in 2007 and Sensei is 76 years old – his heart still beats for the karate och Brandbergen Karate Kai.
